Barry Mills, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Mills is a Psychiatrist, former member of the Harvard University Faculty and an Editor for the Harvard Review of Psychiatry. In practice since 1994, he is Board Certified in both Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is originally from Texas where he was a competitive athlete but came to California after several years in Massachusetts where he was a Medical Director at Cambridge Health Alliance. During his tenure at Massachusetts General Hospital it was ranked #1 among Psychiatric Departments by U.S. News and World Report. He is a past recipient of several awards including the Rappaport and Laughlin Fellowships from the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and American College of Psychiatrists. Dr. Mills also holds a PhD in Cultural Studies with a specialization in Post-Colonial Theory and Eastern Religions. In his practice, Dr Mills provides a diverse range of care focusing on psychotropic medications for patients with psychiatric symptoms and chemical dependency. He has particular interests in the treatment of stress, depression, anxiety, trauma and anger management as well as the integration of culture, religion and psychiatry. Outside of work, Dr. Mills is an avid motorcyclist, husband and father of three children.
